Diploma in Optometry

Duration: Full time 2 years

Optometry is a primary eye care profession. As an optometrist, you will help evaluate a person’s vision and help him find the right spectacles, contact lenses and other optical aids. Apart from this, you can also perform specialized tests to diagnose ocular diseases. The growing need for well-trained and technically sound optometrists in India and abroad makes this course a promising one. As an optometrist, you will find job opportunities with eye hospitals, optical chains and also in leading multinational optical/contact lens companies.

Objectives of the Course

  • To prepare a optometry who :-
  • Can record vision.
  • Can assess error of refraction & measure it with radioscopy and subjective refraction
  • Can used common instruments & equipment related to ophthalmology.
  • Can perform procedures like Tonometry, Syringing, Fundus photo, Slit lamp examination, ophthalmoscopy, Corneal, Staining FB removal, Dressing of eye etc.

Eligibility

Candidate must have pass 12th with physics, chemistry and biology
Or
Physics, Chemistry, math with 35% marks in intermediate exams. (From UP board or any other recognized board).
Candidate must have completed age of 17 year of age as on 31st December of admission year. There is no maximum age limit for the admission.

  1. General Anatomy & Physiology (Cytology, Histology, Osteology and only basics of all organ systems of body)
  2. Only basics of relevant Pathology, Pharmacology (including anaesthetic agents) & Microbiology

  2. Basic of Physics, related to light and physical Physiological optics
  3. Hand hygiene & prevention of cross infection
  4. Basics life support (BLS) & Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
